- The world is what you think it is
- There are no limits
- Energy flows where attention goes
- Now is the moment of power
- To love is to be happy with
- All power comes from within
- Effectiveness is the measure of truth
My deepest understanding of this principle comes from the Hawaiian word that is used to indicate its meaning – Aloha. Yes, aloha, the word used in Hawaiian greetings. As defined by Serge Kahili King (Urban Shaman, pg 70) it comes from several roots including alo which means to be with and to share, and oha which means affection and joy or literally “to love is to be happy with.”
The word aloha also contains the root ha which in Hebrew as well as other languages means breath. So another meaning for aloha is “the breath we all share.”
As Serge Kahili King goes on to point out in Urban Shaman, love exists to the degree that we appreciate or feel happy with the person or object of our love. Unhappiness comes from doubt, anger and fear.
The lesson I have learned is that the more I can bless and love in my life, the stronger and more open-hearted I am. I find that to be more loving helps me to reduce criticism, anger, fear and hurt. When I am more loving, those around me tend to respond in kind. And even the world around me responds more joyfully.
